Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some frequently asked questions that may help you to get started. If you have any further questions please reach out to me directly. I work very closely to assist my clients all the way through the enrollment process.

When should I start the Medicare Enrollment process?

In most cases 3 months before the month of your 65th birthday.

How do I enroll in Medicare?

You can go to the Social Security website, ssa.gov , go to the "Apply for Medicare only" link. Individuals turning 65 or if you have a certain disability are able to go to the Social Security website and enroll for your Original Medicare.

Once you obtain your Original Medicare card you can reach out to me and set up an appointment to research your options.

Is there help available for my prescription drug costs?

For those who economically qualify, extra help is available through the government. You can apply online at ssa.gov/medicare/part-d-extra-help or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE

Should I do a Medicare supplement and Rx drug plan or Medicare Advantage plan?

Many factors need to be considered. Your income/affordability, Guaranteed Issue windows, age and finally your health.

Is there help available for my Part B monthly premium?

For those who economically qualify, help is available through the state Medicaid program (ACHCCS in Arizona) You can apply online at azahccs.gov or by calling your local DES office.

What is a good fit for you may be different than what is the best fit for your friends and neighbors.

There is a monthly premium for your part D/RX plan and Supplemental plans this premium may increase over time. Medicare Supplemental plans generally speaking pick up some or all the 20% left over from Original Medicare.

Medicare Advantage Plans often have little to no monthly premium but have out of pocket maximums and copays. All of which is state specific.
